All I can muster this month is a sad-looking kalanchoe. If I
had planned right I might have some miniature roses or something
else, oh well.

Kalanchoes are nice; I like the color of yours. You should try some indoor bulb forcing and some other flowering plants. I feel we need it in our area, don't you?
Thanks! We certainly do need it, the past few warm days we've had I've been out scouring the garden for early snowdrops (none found)! I may go take some forsythia branches soon for forcing. I'm really itching for spring this year.
